1 Corinthians: Love, Love, Love

There are times when I hear someone really intelligent preach or speak about the Bible and I get a little intimidated. They’ll use big words, unpack profound ideas about salvation and be excited about spending an hour talking the doctrine of the trinity. I realize some people love that kind of stuff, but I’m not one of those people. Sometimes when I hear stuff like that, I start to think I may be too dumb to follow Jesus. That’s a ridiculous thought, but I have this disease where sometimes I believe things that are not true.

Then I read a passage where Jesus sums up the whole law saying “Love God and love your neighbor as yourself.” Or in 1 Corinthians, Paul talks about how he’d rather be able to say a few intelligent words of instruction than be able to speak a thousand different languages. Later he drops those intelligent words when he says “Do everything in love.”
